Come visit the Science Center's Early Childhood program, where we make learning fun and exciting! 

Your child will be introduced to chemistry, biology, physics, and geology through play- based, hands-on activities that stimulate thought and teach cause and effect.  Young children learn through play, and each class provides an experience that is both educational and memorable!

Who: Children, ages 18 months to 4 years….and their mommy, daddy, grandparent, or caregiver.

Where: The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium’s Early Childhood Classroom.

"Investigating Insects" - Thursdays August 31st – October 5th  *SOLD OUT*

Due to Hurricane Irma, the September 7th class has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 12th, same time. 

Join us as we explore the largest group of organisms on our planet, insects! Each week we will investigate a different group of insects and what makes each of them so unique! Hold a super-worm in your hand, touch a Madagascan hissing cockroach, and learn how crickets communicate! Sessions are infused with age appropriate activities that challenge and entertain your child while sparking a love of learning about the world around them. Each class includes story-time, a thematic science activity, free play structured by the week’s theme, arts and crafts, and music and movement.

When: Once a week, from 10:00 AM - 11:15 PM, for 6 consecutive weeks. Program cost is $85.00 for Museum Members and $100.00 for Non-Members. This cost is per child and parent pair.

 

"Space Explorers" – Thursdays, October 19th - November 30th

Join us as we explore the beautiful Universe that we call home! Each week we will learn about a different aspect of space and what makes it so amazing! Navigate our Solar System, explore what it means to be a star, and visit our full-dome planetarium to view the wonders of our galaxy. Sessions are infused with age appropriate activities that challenge and entertain your child while sparking a love of learning about the world around them. Each class includes story-time, a thematic science activity, free play structured by the week’s theme, arts and crafts, and music and movement.

When: Once a week, from 9:15 - 10:30 AM or 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM, for 7 consecutive weeks. Program cost is $85.00 for Museum Members and $100.00 for Non-Members. This cost is per child and parent pair.

        

 

"Seasonal Science" – Thursdays, December 7th – December 21st (This is only a 3 class session)

Explore the wonders of the holiday season in this abridged, three class session! Get wacky with winter oobleck, learn how a polar bear fur stays dry, and become an archaeologist as we excavate arctic animals in the ice. Sessions are infused with age appropriate activities that challenge and entertain your child while sparking a love of learning about the world around them. Each class includes story-time, a thematic science activity, free play structured by the week’s theme, arts and crafts, and music and movement.

When: Once a week, from 9:15 - 10:30 AM or 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM, for 3 consecutive weeks because of the Holiday. Program cost is $55.00 for Museum Members and $70.00 for Non-Members. This cost is per child and parent pair.
