Presented by South Florida Science Center Educators!
Join us for our entry-level or intermediate course into the world of 3D design. During this 3 hour class, you will learn all of the skills needed to manipulate 3-dimensional objects in a 2-dimensional workspace. We will use a web-based CAD (computer-aided design) program that allows you to access your designs from anywhere. Once your design is complete you will be able to take it home with you.
When: 5PM - 7PM on the dates below
Where: These classes take place at our Stiles-Nicholson STEM Education Center on the North end of our parking lot: 4800 Dreher Trail N. West Palm Beach, FL.
3D Design and Printing 101 (Ages 8-14) – During this three hour session students will learn to use Tinkercad, a web-based 3D-Design tool, to create a simple model of a spinning top that will be printed right before their eyes! This course is an introduction to Tinkercad where students are not expected to have any prior knowledge of the program. $45 per session. All participants must be registered. This is a student only class limited to the age range in the description. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay in the building in the adjacent rooms where we do have complimentary Wi-Fi available. (This class will take place 5PM-8PM)
3D Design and Printing 102 (Ages 8-14) – For this slightly accelerated course, it is recommended to have a familiarity with Tinkercad beforehand as we will dive into more complex creations for this class. Students will learn to create and modify designs by not only adding shapes to the work plane, but also coding complex shapes using various functions built into the Tinkercad library. $50 per session. All participants must be registered. This is a student only class limited to the age range in the description. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay in the building in the adjacent rooms where we do have complimentary Wi-Fi available.
Intermediate 3D Design and Printing With Fusion 360 (Ages 15 – 100+) – Fusion 360, a comprehensive 2D and 3D design program, will be used during this course. No prior design experience is necessary to join and is actually encouraged. Students will learn to create 2-dimensional shapes that can be transformed into 3-dimensional objects. These objects can then be combined to create complex 3D designs with precise dimensions that can be modeled to your desire. $50 per session
