Flash, bang, pop, fizz! It’s time for the best kind of palooza, it’s a STEMapalooza! Join us to celebrate all things STEM.

STEMapalooza – def: A STEM-azing day at the South Florida Science Center

Girl Scouts and their families can join us at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium for GSSEFs first ever STEM signature program. There is so much to look forward to! With your ticket you will get access to the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium and be able to explore activity booths from Program Partners. Girls will also get to participate in exclusive Girl Scout programming in the STEM Center, including a Gold Award Girl Scout led computer lab, a virtual hands-on engineering activity with Florida DOT, and a secret STEM-tastic engineering challenge that is sure to launch her into the STEM-osphere. Click on this link to find out more about this event.

Daisy through Cadettes Girl Scouts can register to become a Rube Goldberg Machine Inventor; they will be asked to build their machine over a six-week period and then set it up the day of the event to be judged and displayed at STEMapalooza.  Girls can register their teams of up to 6 people (including Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts) by clicking on this link. Only 15 teams can complete in this competition so be sure to register soon!

  • Registered Girl Scout  - $18 per girl member
  • Rube Goldberg Machine Inventor Participant (members and non-members ages 5-18) - $15
  • Adults, children and non-registered Girl Scouts - $12 (per person)

Program Objectives - by the end of this program the Girl Scouts will:

  • Try something new
  • Increase their interest in STEM through experiencing a variety of STEM activities
  • Know there are lots of careers available in the STEM field for women
  • Understand that it is ok to fail and try again “Women, like men, should try to do the impossible. And when they fail, their failure should be a challenge to others.” – Amelia Earhart

Girl Scouts will receive a special custom GSSEF patch for participating in this program.

Adult Supervision is required. See the Prerequisites section below for more details.

Covid-19 Precautions that will be implemented:

All guests and staff are required to wear a face-covering inside and outside the building. The program space will be set up to maintain social distance guidelines by always staying 6ft apart. Touchless hand sanitizing stations and bathrooms are available to facilitate wash hands frequently. All surfaces are thoroughly disinfected every hour.
